Important Medication Tips :

  • Take Tacrolimus/Cyclosporin on an empty stomach.
  • Take your Tacrolimus or Cyclosporine doses 12 hours apart.
  • Take prednisolone and Azathioprine after taking meals.
  • Cyclosporine (Neoral, Bioral,Sandimune, Cylosporine A)
  • Cyclosporine is used to prevent rejection of a transplanted organ. It is used
  • for long-term (perhaps lifetime)
  • immunosuppression . It comes under two formulations- capsules ( 25 , 50 & 100mg) and liquid form(100mg/ml) which is measued by syringe.
  • If you use liquid cyclosporine, always measure the dose by syringe and not by teaspoon as it is not accurate. Afterwards clean the syringe with a tissue paper .
  • Do not rinse with water as an oily residue is produced. It is taken by mixing with milk or juice ; and the liquid with which you mix cyclosporine should not be changed and kept the same always.
  • Use a glass container and not plastic one as the medicine sticks to it , thus reducing your dose. Avoid taking any grapefruit products (including juice) at the same time of day as this medicine, as it can alter the amount of drug .
